We like to ride our bikes and we like good beer, put those together and it seemed that starting organized Beer Rides was the sensible thing to do. We chatted to our friends over at Devil’s Peak Brewery who went “Yes! Let’s do it!” and then we spoke to our local bike store The Gear Change who, after telling us that we had a broken rear axle, potentially a damaged hub and flywheel (nice guys), that they would be keen to get involved.
So, on the 23rd of November we will be taking 25 riders from The Gear Change in Mowbray to the Blockhouse and back again. Back at the shop there will be Devil’s Peak King’s Blockhouse IPA aplenty as well as a food truck (we are still confirming which one). While everyone gets stuck into the above Justin Tuck (resident Grease Monkey and bearer of bad news at The Gear Change), will carry out a workshop on maintaining your bike.
Tickets are R100, limited to just 25 riders and are available through Quicket. We’re working on having a few giveaways on the evening – a B&H Devil’s Peak cycling jersey, Festival of Beer tickets and at least one other prize we are working on.
Current schedule for the evening:
17h30 Arrive at the Gear Change in Mowbray and get kitted for the ride.
18h00 Set off for the Blockhouse riding through Mowbray, the University and up Rhodes Mem.
19h15 Arrive at the Blockhouse. We’re not expecting any Strava times to be broken.
20h00 Get back to the Gear Change taking the back route down from Rhodes Mem.
20h15 Food and beers all ready.

After being up at the Blockhouse we suggest bringing something warm to put on once we get back to The Gear Change, and if anyone has any dietary requirements please let us know so we can make sure we have something for you.
