Friday Beer: Helderberg Breweries Sultana Wheat Ale

The purpose of the Featured Friday Beer is to introduce you to a beer that you may otherwise overlook on the shelf. Something we have enjoyed and something we think you would enjoy. The beer we originally thought about for this week unfortunately just did not do it for us. So, we swiftly poured it down the sink, something hard to do when you spend R30 on a single beer. We moved on, and we always have a back up (at least one), which bring us to this weeks Featured Beer – the Helderberg Breweries Sultana Wheat Ale.

Helderberg Breweries

The Brewery

The brewery is based in Somerset West and appears to be one that you can visit. We haven’t been but it’s nice to know that we can. From their Facebook Page they are a “Manufacturer of Helderberg’s own craft beer. Committed to using only the finest ingredients, cutting no corners to bring the public the best craft beer!” This, while running the risk of sounding like a broken record, is about all we can tell you about the brewery. We would love to tell you when they started brewing or who the Brewer is but that information just doesn’t seem to be out there on the interwebs.

The Beer

Right, to the main event. Through some poking around and this post from The Beer Mistress they have three different beers available at the moment.

  • Sultana Wheat Ale
  • Rye IPA
  • Smoked Golden Ale

If anyone has any more info on the brewery and details on any other beers they are producing please do let us know. You can get hold of them on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter and if you find yourself in Somerset West you can find them at 20 Delson Cirlce, Somerset Business Park. Try the Helderberg Breweries Sultana Wheat Ale this weekend and let us know your thoughts.

Again, if there is a beer out there you think we should be doing a Feature on, let us know in the comments below. To read about some of the other Featured Beers click here.

Until next week, cheers!
