Coming from a new brewery comes a new Festival. Firstly, welcome to the Shackleton Brewing Company and secondly, thank you for putting together the first Summer Cask Ale Festival. Taking place at Springboks Pub at the feet of the SAB brewery the Festival is aptly named “In The Shadow of Giants”.
Shackleton Brewing is based at Springboks where brewer Stephen Peel is put to work. We’ve not yet tried his beer so we’re very excited to try it at the Festival. In The Shadow of Giants takes place on the 14th of April with 8 local craft breweries, food stalls and live music. The full list of breweries currently fermenting in casks include:

- Swiftys Bru
- Afro Caribbean Brewing Co
- Metal Lane Brewery
- Devil’s Peak Brewing Co
- Fullers
- Atlantic Storm Brewery
- The Dissident Brewing Co
With this being a Cask Festival these brews are mostly going to be one-offs. You are not going to be able to find them at your local liquor store – that makes it interesting. Tickets are R80 through Webtickets and R100 at the door with the first 100 people through getting a free glass.
How to Win Tickets
The good people at Shackleton Brewing Co have given us two double tickets to “In The Shadow of Giants” and have thrown in a couple of free pints. So, two winners will each get to take a mate and get free beer. Not a bad way to spend a day.
