This week is a particularly beer fueled week. To start we obviously have a full week of celebrating 5 years of Beerhouse on Long, then this weekend is the Woodstock Winter Beer Festival (have you bought your tickets yet?). Amongst all of this is one of our favourites, International IPA Day, so we thought we better find out whats going on.
1. Beerhouse (On Long)
Part of their 5 year celebrations Beerhouse on Long will be taking their First Thursday celebrations up a couple of notches. They will be having one of their ever popular Meet The Brewer evenings giving the public a chance to meet the brewers of Cape Town’s finest IPAs. If that isn’t enough there will be free tastings of the beers they make. Expect to see JC Steyn (Devil’s Peak), Nick Bush (Drifter), Lethu Shabangu (Ukhamba), and others.

2. Beerhouse (Fourways)
If you’re up North Beerhouse Fourways wants to make sure there is something for the Hop Heads up there. And you couldn’t ask for a better deal than bottomless Mad Giant Urban Legend IPA (we have featured this beer before) for R199. With all the other options Beerhouse has it would be the obvious place to go if you’re in the area.
3. Woodstock
Back in Cape Town the brewers at Woodstock Brewing Co have been busy clubbing out 3 special small batch brews for the day.
- Sour Black IPA
- Smash IPA
- Froot Loops IPA
Yes, you read that right, Froot Loops IPA. They will obviously also have their Californicator on tap. Pair all this with some good beats and great food it’s a great option for IPA day.

4. Afro Caribbean Brewing Co
It’s very difficult for the Afro Caribbean Brewing Co to turn down the opportunity of a beer event. They will be opening up the brew pub above Banana Jam in Kenilworth and hosting 2 other breweries. There will be plenty of banter and more importantly plenty of IPA. You may even find that brewers Greg and Rochelle have brewed up something special.

5. Devil’s Peak Salt River Taproom
Brewing one of the most popular IPA’s in the country Devil’s Peak had to make sure there is plenty of Blockhouse on Tap. They obviously are not stopping there and will have no less than 5 other IPA’s available at their Salt River Taproom.

- Amundsen Ink & Dagger
- St. Francis Wild Side
- Little Wolf Brut
- Unfiltered Kings Blockhouse
This whole lot will be available for R55 per 500ml. Good opportunity to try a a whole lot of great IPAs.
