For those who are unfamiliar with the origins of Barley&Hops, it all has to do with the Cape Town Festival of Beer. We spent five years helping run it; getting to know the breweries, the fantastic people that run them, and enjoying a whole lot of beer. We always wanted to make sure we had a “life” post the Festival of Beer. Queue Barley&Hops. We owe a lot to them and you can bet your bottom dollar we will be there this year. No work, and all play for the first time in six years 🍺🔥.

This, being the 10th Cape Town Festival of Beer, is quite a feat, and it only goes to show that they have been doing something right. It will see over 10,000 thirsty beer fans through Hamilton’s Rugby Club over three days. Kicking off on Friday the 29th of November and closing the gates on Sunday the 1st of December it’s a hell of a way to kick off the Festive Season.
A highlight for us each year is the one-offs that the breweries arrive with. There have been some cracking beers over the years and there will no doubt be a whole lot more this year. We’ve heard rumblings of two or three. Top tip, take a growler. You’re all allowed to and you’ll regret not having one when the gates close and the beer is done. Although, saying that, several breweries will have growlers on sale.

On top of the beer there is also a selection of food trucks, wine and bubbly stand and live entertainment. If you’ve got kids, Sunday is family day with a dedicated kids area. Ideal for mom and dad to responsibly enjoy a couple of beers and a bite to eat. Highly recommended. It’s our second favourite day to get into a bit of beer geekery.

With all that said we have managed to pry some tickets out of the organizers. We’ve got three pairs of Friday night tickets (our favourite day), to give away. We like to keep it simple, steps to enter below.
